NOTE: The Sturgis Gran Fondo is no longer a thing, but the route consisting of Vanocker Canyon Rd., Nemo Rd., and Norris Peak Rd. is still a great ride sans the short stretch of highway to Mt. Rushmore.
The Sturgis Gran Fondo was a new event in 2015, and has been as successful as any of the organizers could have imagined. This supported road event starts and concludes in downtown Sturgis, with riders making a trek of 120 miles to Mount Rushmore and back. The course follows twisty and scenic paved roads through the Black Hills in and out-and-back format. There are also shorter distances, for those riders who want to bite off fewer miles, using the same course also in an out-and-back fashion.
